Every once in awhile my jaw needs a break from all the penis gags that seem to find their way into my mouth and this muzzle from Top to Bottom Leathers is the perfect solution! I like to show it off on my blog a lot, but I’ve never really taken the time to review it for others who might be interested in buying it so here we go.

It’s one of the first custom pieces I ever bought, and I haven’t regretted it at all. At the time, it seemed like a big investment and I wasn’t sure how much use I would get out of it, but years later I’m pleasantly surprised that it still makes it into the toy rotation and it’s held up quite well.  

It has a soft, fitted face shield that keeps my mouth firmly closed without putting any stress on my jaw. This means Sir can go do more important things while I spend a little more time suffering or thinking about how unfair life is for sluts ;)

The straps are thick with finished edges, and are just the right amount of overkill to make me feel locked in tight and helpless. I like that it gives quite a bit of face coverage and feels super bondage-y, but it doesn’t interfere with my vision or hearing. On the other hand, that means I get to see all the horrible things that are about to happen, so that might be a drawback. Especially since I can’t say anything about it. 

It definitely feels hood-like and restrictive, so there’s potential for some claustrophobia if that’s an issue. I looooove hoods- so it feels like heaven to me, and the thickness of the leather on the face shield gives a little bit of padding for all the face slaps I get, hehehe. 

The inner portion of the mouth part is lined with patent leather, making it easy to clean and slightly less messy when layering with other gags because it keeps some of the drool in. I tend to get makeup on everything so I really appreciate the ease of cleaning. 

Technically, I can still talk while wearing this muzzle, but it’s very muffled and quiet. This makes for fun scenarios where I beg for things and Sir pretends to hear the exact opposite of what I really I want- or he just ignores me completely. It’s definitely easier to understand what I’m saying with this gag vs. a ball gag, but overall it’s very effective at noise reduction if that’s what you’re looking for. 

That being said, you can still layer the muzzle with other gags for additional noise reduction. Sir finds that my own dirty panties work best for that. For other layering options, I like to layer mine with an open mouth leather hood, and I especially love that I can layer it over my kitty ears. I think it’s harder for Sir to punish a cute kitty, so I always add ears when I can. 

If your sub has long hair you need to make a few extra decisions before putting it on. You can either put the hair up in a ponytail and have it drifting slightly to side (to miss the center strap), or you can do pigtails. I usually do pigtails because that seems to be Sir’s favorite- as evidenced by less punishment when I’m wearing them, hehehe. 

In terms of comfort, I wore this muzzle for the entire time I wrote this review,  so I would say that a sub could wear this for even the longest of sessions without having any legit complaints about comfort. 

This muzzle costs about $140 USD (depending on the exchange rate), and I would say that’s a fair price for the quality. Each piece is handmade made to order - so be prepared with your tape measure to send some measurements. You also get the option to choose the trim color and buckle style (locking/non-locking). I love the option to chose the trim color. Having cute pink trim makes this piece of serious bondage slightly less intimidating and more girly.. And I’m super girly. 

As a side note, I would recommend getting a styrofoam head to store it on because I think it helps keep the shape nice, and I love to display my gear… just ask my housekeeper. 

My only complaint about this muzzle is that it always leaves a pretty serious red mark in the center of my forehead, and I don’t have a good solution for that. To be fair- I never told Top to Bottom Leathers, because it’s not THAT big of a deal, but I’m sure someone creative can think of a solution for this.
